What you need to cruise in comfort?

-
How much power do you need? Consider how many days you want to stay off-grid. How many people in your RV
AGM vs Lithium: Lithium batteries are lighter, more efficient, and last longer, ideal for modern setups and off grid adventure.
Size it right: Undersized batteries will run flat fast, oversize and you’ve overspent.
Do you have a battery monitoring system, so you know exactly how much power you have.
OR are you mostly plugged in at campsite (watch over charging lead ion batteries)
-
Alternator Charging: Do you want to charge while driving?
Solar Panels: Great for off-grid setups, just make sure your panels and controller are matched properly.
Mains Charging: Consider a proper battery charger (not just a cheap plug pack). Smart chargers protect your battery and charge more efficiently.
-
Needed if you want to run 230V appliances (like a coffee machine or TV, bikes).
Make sure your inverter size matches what you're powering.
Pure sine wave is ideal, safer for electronics.
What do you need to operate and charge up? e-bikes, (we can set up an external outlet) coffee machines, hair dyers, wifi and streaming phones computers.
-
AC for shore power and 230V gear, DC for lights, pumps, fridges.
Properly fused and labelled circuits prevent headaches.
Use marine-grade gear if possible, it’s built for harsh environments.
-
Battery monitors, Bluetooth monitors, solar regulators with readouts, and fuse panels with indicators make troubleshooting easier.
Know how much power you’re using and generating.
-
Ensure your system complies with AS/NZS 3001:2022 standards.
You’ll need an Electrical Warrant of Fitness (EWOF) for most campsites.
Have it installed by an HMB registered electrician, who familiar with mobile/off-grid systems.
-
Need wifi and data where you roam? Working on the go or taking the kids on holiday? Or looking for connectivity options depending on your requirements? Starlink, or its less expensive baby brother, Pep link, can give you superior wifi and streaming experiences.
-
RCDs and circuit breakers on all AC systems.
Ventilation for batteries and chargers.
Correct cable sizing and secure wiring, especially in a moving vehicle!
-
Want to add Starlink, e-bikes, an induction hob, or extra gear later?
Build in spare capacity now to avoid a full rewire down the track.
