From Old Tech to Top-Tier:
Why Simrad Halo Has Wayne Hooked
Half Moon Bay Marina local Wayne Johnson recently upgraded his 19-year-old radar to a brand-new Simrad Halo—and he couldn’t be happier.
“The accuracy and detail are a world away from what I had—I can pick up everything, including small stuff like kayaks,” Wayne says.
The Halo’s bird mode has also been a big bonus for his fishing trips: “I couldn’t quite believe the accuracy of the bird mode. I can instantly spot where the birds are working, even individual birds flying past. I’m pretty confident this will up my fishing tally.”
Despite not being the most tech-savvy guy around, Wayne found the system easy to use.
“I’m (somewhere) in my 60s, so technology isn’t my strongest suit—but this Simrad system is simple to operate. Plus, Simon’s guys gave me a one-on-one tutorial, which set me up exactly how I wanted and showed me how to navigate the key menus I’ll be using.”
“In all honesty, my old system still did the basics, but now I’ve got this new tech, it’s a real game-changer. At the end of the day, it will make my boating much more enjoyable.”
