SIMON'S TECHNICAL TIPS

ANCHOR WINCH MAINTENANCE

The poor old anchor winch up the front is conveniently 'out of sight out of mind'.  It spends the summer working its guts out and in most cases has had several lashings of salt water deposited all over it.

Tip One: Wash your anchor winch thoroughly with fresh water after every outing.

Tip Two: Get it serviced regularly.  Every 12 -18 months is what we recommend. 

The biggest reason to service your anchor winch is so that the unit is not corroded up with bolts seized  so it takes hours just to get the winch off.  Electrical terminals looking like a ball of rust are not to efficient.  Gears and wormwheels like a little bit of lubrication to keep them going nicely.  Winches left for years become a major job to fix not to mention the day they fail will be a shocker guaranteed!

BATTERIES

Batteries need to be kept charged.  Ensure they are charged fully once a month and check the electrolyte level regularly especially deep cycle batteries.  We can test and maintain your batteries plus all other systems regularly if required.  Contact us to find out more.
